Logs & Troubleshooting
GatewayKit includes a built-in structured logging system under GatewayKit → Logs:
- Filter logs by level (
Debug,Info,Warning,Error) and transaction ID. - Each entry captures timestamps, error levels, human-readable messages, and structured JSON context.
- Sensitive credentials and customer data are redacted automatically.
- Export logs directly to a
.txtfile for debugging assistance.
Common Issues & Solutions
“Security check failed” on form submission
Cause: The security nonce embedded in a cached page has expired.
Fix: Clear your page cache (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed, Cloudflare). Ensure frontend.js is loading without script-blocker interference so GatewayKit can automatically refresh nonces via background AJAX.
Payment redirects to gateway but never completes
Cause: The callback URL or webhook is blocked by a security plugin or firewall.
Fix: Verify your SSL certificate is valid. Ensure your firewall does not block /wp-json/gatewaykit/v1/webhook. Set up the webhook endpoint inside your provider's dashboard (Stripe/PayPal) as an asynchronous confirmation fallback.
“Selected payment gateway is not enabled”
Cause: The gateway is either toggled off in settings or missing required API keys.
Fix: Go to GatewayKit → Settings → Gateways, ensure the gateway is enabled, and verify that test/live keys match your current Test Mode toggle.
White screen / 500 error after payment return
Cause: PHP memory limit exhaustion or a third-party plugin conflict.
Fix: Increase PHP memory_limit to at least 256M in your wp-config.php. Check WordPress debug logs (WP_DEBUG_LOG) for the specific stack trace.
Uninstall & Data Removal
By default, GatewayKit never deletes your transaction history or settings upon deactivation or deletion to prevent accidental data loss.
Opt-in Complete Data Removal
To completely delete all GatewayKit database tables (transactions, logs, discounts, usage) and settings upon plugin deletion, enable the uninstall purge flag before deleting:
wp option update gatewaykit_delete_data_on_uninstall 1 Complete cleanup is permanent and irreversible. Only enable this if you are decommissioning the site or intentionally resetting all transaction records.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does GatewayKit require WooCommerce?
No. GatewayKit is built specifically to eliminate WooCommerce overhead for single-product sales, service invoices, event tickets, and donations. There is no shopping cart, no product catalog setup, and no database bloat.
Does it require Elementor or Elementor Pro?
No. GatewayKit is completely standalone. It includes its own visual drag-and-drop Form Builder, native Gutenberg block (gatewaykit/payment-form), and universal shortcode ([gatewaykit_form id="…"]). It works on any WordPress theme. If you use Elementor, GatewayKit provides both a dedicated widget for Elementor Free and an Action After Submit for Elementor Pro Forms.
Does GatewayKit charge a transaction or platform fee?
No. GatewayKit charges 0% platform fees. Unlike competing plugins that skim 2–3% off every transaction, 100% of your earnings stay yours. You only pay the standard processing fees charged by your gateway provider (e.g. Stripe or PayPal).
What's the difference between the free version and Pro?
The free version ships all 9 payment gateways (PayPal, Stripe, Mollie, Razorpay, Paystack, Mercado Pago, CoinGate, Coinify, NOWPayments) plus the standalone Form Builder, Gutenberg block, shortcodes, starter templates, style presets (Theme Default, Modern Clean), the transactions dashboard, automated PDF receipts and invoices, email delivery, transaction notes, date-range filtering, Payment Links, and structured logging. Pro (paid add-on) adds discount coupons, partial/deposit payments, 1-click refunds from the dashboard, an analytics dashboard, recurring Stripe subscriptions, CSV export, outgoing webhooks, white-label mode, and premium style presets.
Which payment gateways are included in the free plugin?
All nine — PayPal, Stripe, Mollie, Razorpay, Paystack, Mercado Pago, CoinGate, Coinify, and NOWPayments — are included in the free plugin. Credit cards, cryptocurrency, Apple Pay, and regional payment methods (UPI, PIX).
Are my payment credentials safe?
Yes. All gateway secrets are encrypted at rest with AES-256-CBC, keyed from your site’s SECURE_AUTH_KEY. They are decrypted only in memory when needed. Logs automatically redact sensitive credentials.
